Communities of Faith and CommuniShare: In any church, mosque, synagogue, temple (and so on), members are brought together around a common, faith-based purpose. In most of these congregations, the commitment to community is very important from a spiritual perspective as well as from a practical perspectiveas a factor in attracting and retaining members. (Terminals in the congregation office or local public library, or printouts of Entries, could serve those congregants without Internet access from home or work.) CommuniShare facilitates and reinforces the process of community building, providing numerous benefits to communities of faith...
- A private, congregation-based CommuniShare is a benefit of membership, enhancing a sense of community identity and pride, and increasing membership retention.
- Additionally, if desired, CommuniShare could be used to share information with other congregations, say, of the same denomination.
- New, isolated or shy members of the community can use CommuniShare as a means of self-introduction and connection.
- Members tend to already have an inherent desire to reach out to one another, and to provide assistance and comfort when needed. CommuniShare is a tool for identifying and expressing both needs and available resources. (And, to the extent that relationships among members are deepened, even unexpressed needs would be more effectively identified and addressed.)
- CommuniShare provides a means of connections among subgroups which may not normally interact (e.g., young and old; members from different geographic areas or economic statuses; or members of different congregations which have merged).
- Congregation officials are able to identify resources within the community which may be needed for various projects, programs or ministries.
